- How do I browse the articles?

Articles that have several reviews (meaning, some readers have already read them and found them interesting) will appear on the front page as "Reviewed Articles", with the newest post at the very top. They are arranged chronologically and not by number of reviews. If you want to see the articles in order of number of reviews, you can check out the "Top Today" section.

Articles that haven't received several reviews yet will appear on the "New Articles" page. They will also be displayed with the most recent first. If you want, you can change the sort order to have the oldest first or the most popular or even the least popular first. Just click on the "Sort articles by" choices.

So depending on how much time you have to browse, you can hit the main page, then the new articles. If you visit often, you just have to check the top of the upcoming articles to see what's really new.

- Do I have to register?

You don't have to register to read the "articles" or follow the links. You do need to register if you want to review articles, make comments or post links of your own.

- How do I register?

There's a box for registering yourself as a new user in the lower right hand side of the main screen. Pick a username and a password and you're all set. Each time you visit, you'll need to login with that username and password.

- How do I submit an article?

Once you are logged in, you can click on the "Submit an article" link on the bar above the articles. That will take you to a page to enter the URL of the link you are submitting (use the permalink to the specific post and not just a general address so that readers will be taken directly to the post you're submitting). The system will check the link and bring back a title. You can edit the title and write a description that will help tell readers what your link is about. Choose the proper category and click "submit". You'll have a chance to preview your post and then "submit" one last time. There is also a bookmarklet which you can add to your browser bookmarks to automatically post an article you are reading to the DogStudent site

- What if I don't have my own web site or blog to post links from?

That's the great thing about DogStudent, you post articles which you've come across that you think will be of interest to the community.

- How do I review an article?

Once you are logged in, you can browse the articles and if you think they are interesting, all you have to do is click on "Review It" to the left of the article. The new review count for that article should appear.

You can review as many articles as you like, but you can only review once for each article.

- Why should I review an article?

Because it helps other readers find the most interesting and useful articles quickly!

- How is this reviewing thing not just a contest?

The voting system is just a tool to help readers find what they want to read. The front page articles aren't listed by number of reviews - they are listed in chronological order with newest at the top, giving newer posts a chance to get more ranks. With new articles coming in constantly from hundreds of participants, the front page will be constantly changing.

And remember, none of these posts are ranked by poster or anything like that. They are always presented in chronological order. And the "less popular" ones aren't hidden or anything like that. The idea is that all posts start out equal and reviews from a large number of people rate posts in a fair way.

- What if my article doesn't get many reviews?

If something is interesting, it will get reviews! The review count is only a relative measure of how popular a specific article was at a certain time or on a certain day.

- What does "bury" mean?

Bury is like giving negative feedback to a post or comment. The bury allows other readers to decrease the popularity of that article or comment.
